Mihalisin and Philip Walling are experienced in numerous aspects of
design and construction. They view their work as fine art that has
multiple practical applications. The sculptures can be hung on virtually
any wall surface with ease. They can also be permanently installed into
ceilings and walls during the construction phase of a project. As
sculptures, the work functions as a result of a mirror surface that is
applied to the back of the glass prior to construction. This allows for
light reflection and color refraction. Interior
lighting designs with UL listings are also well within the scope of
these sculptural elements. Pendant lights and sconces can be
one-of-a-kind or designed for limited production runs. The
elements have also been tested for interior/exterior window applications
and are well suited for thermal pane. They are an exciting option for
architectural settings where natural light is desired but privacy is an
issue. Fine art becomes a permanent architectural detail that can be
controlled with exterior lighting and changes with natural daylight. Mihalisin and Walling have the unique ability to formulate thousands of colors in both glass and concrete. They can control quantities of light transmission as well as the color of the glass to suite a variety of circumstances. |
